lyrics - late train blues

A man my age
is supposed to settle down
work a 9-5 lord
paying rent someplace in town

business on the side
keeping records paying taxes
tan socks to match his alligator sheos
but i aint got nothing but the

late train blues
every night i go astray
i get a break each morning
then i throw it all away

Too often i been choosin
to drink coffee while im losing
half the day

I'm still a spring chicken
but the field is ripe for pickin anyways
hidin eggs around thanksgivin
giving gifts around the first of may

i wake up at 2
the banks close down at 4 pm 2x
'time i get my coffee
my two hours done been spent

late train blues
every night i go astray
i get a break each morning
then i throw it all away

Too often i been choosin
to drink coffee while im losing
half the day
